Final Cuts
I tried to incorporate several elements from the artists' works and to create the title of the exhibition but at the same time to redefine the works through a different medium and purpose. Also through this composition the aim was to highlight the coexistence of each work with the other.
In the context of this art exhibition, the young artists propose sections of works with visual installations, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, video, printmaking, mosaics, and their experimental combinations up to artificial intelligence. The exhibition aspires to be a springboard for the students' professional careers, while remaining in the spirit of encouraging a renewal of the visual arts in Limassol and Cyprus. Upcoming young artists present selected works created during their studies, dealing with diverse, local and universal themes: the relationship between humans and animals and nature, friendship, hybrid forms of life, displacement of populations, the memory of the city, the encounter between humans and nature, refugees and their archives, trauma, mourning and redemption, the inner landscape of the human condition, the position of women, overconsumption, the role of the arts and the artist. The above themes and concerns are some of those that constitute a field of creative reflection for the graduates, who are now forming their artistic and human identity in contemporary society.
